LIVERPOOL, UK - 3D PROJECTED WATER TIGER

To celebrate Chinese New Year 2022, Focal Studios and Scenegraph Studios collaborated to transform the tower of St Luke’s ‘Bombed Out Church’ into a spectacular 3D projection-mapped animation and light show for live audiences.

To mark the year of the tiger, the projections brought to life the story of a courageous tiger seeking to restore peace and harmony to the heavens.

We wanted to make a significant impact on the city of Liverpool, which is why we ran the event for 3 nights. Over 3000 people attended the event and it was even featured on BBC North West News.

A special thanks must go to Pagoda Arts, who invited the participation of a number of local Chinese arts and youth groups, which helped the event to become a focal point for the community’s celebrations.

The Bombed Out Church and their community engagement team involved local primary schools in the lantern project including:

Corinthian Community Primary School, Kensington Primary School, Pleasant Street Primary School, and Princes Primary School.

Chinese New Year 2022, Liverpool
4th, 5th & 6th February
6:00pm-9:00pm

This free event was part of Chinese New Year 2022, Liverpool’s free festival.

The spectacle invited communities around Liverpool to come together and celebrate the Chinese New Year, through a modern and stunning visual display.

The Bombed Out Church worked with the local Chinese community and primary schools in the city to create 200 3D lanterns, all of which were projected onto the building during the event.

Each lantern was specially created using digitised hand-drawn messages of hope and celebration from the participating groups.
