Visible Virals
#WeAre
The Brief
Visible Virals was an art project by Culture Liverpool, Focal Studios, DefProc Engineering and Apt Creative funded by Arts Council England. The project brought to life the Liverpool City Council Public Health Annual Report (PHAR), highlighting voices from the local community.
The aim was to create high quality, engaging cultural activities and activations to highlight Liverpool resident’s experience of COVID 19, how it affected their resilience and the impact it had on our communities throughout the pandemic. The project focussed on engaging with communities in areas often difficult to reach with public health messaging, utilising a mixture of digital and traditional media across the city.
The Challenge
Our role in the project was to visualise the voices of city residents and their experience of Covid-19, by bringing to life the messaging and content made by Apt Creative. We did this through animation and guerilla projection mapping on iconic buildings all around the city centre of Liverpool.
The project culminated in a giant projection mapped game on the side of the Museum of Liverpool - #WeAreGame. For this exciting and fun game, we created animated 8-bit sprites and game objects for DefProc Engineering to use in their game development, before mapping the building with 3D projection. Hosted on the 23rd of March, this date marked the second anniversary of the first COVID-19 lockdown.
